  14. IMPORTANT: Restart your computer after 
  15. installing the Wacom tablet software.

  18. This document contains information that is important, and 
  19. information that is too new to have been incorporated in 
  20. the User's Manual.  There are seven sections in this 
  21. document:
  22.  
  23. 1. TABLET INSTALLATION - Provides step-by-step 
  24.     instructions for installing the tablet software.
  25.  
  26. 2.  UNINSTALL - Provides step-by-step instructions for 
  27.     removing the Wacom tablet from your system.
  28.  
  29. 3.  KNOWN ISSUES AND WORKAROUNDS - Describes known 
  30.     problems, workarounds, unsupported features, and 
  31.     compatibility issues.
  32.  
  33. 4.  CORRECTIONS TO THE USER'S MANUAL - Lists new 
  34.     information or corrections to the User's Manual.
  35.  
  36. 5.  OBTAINING WACOM SOFTWARE UPDATES - Contains 
  37.     information on downloading Wacom software updates.

  46. TABLET INSTALLATION
  47.  
  48. First install the tablet hardware.  For information on 
  49. connecting the Wacom tablet to your system, refer to the 
  50. installation sheet that came with your tablet.
  51.  
  52. Then, install your tablet software:
  53.  
  54. 1.  Make sure the tablet is properly connected, then turn on 
  55.     your computer.  The status LED on your tablet should light 
  56.     to indicate the tablet is powered up.  (If your tablet has a 
  57.     power switch, remember to turn it on.)
  58.  
  59. 2.  Temporarily disable any virus protection programs and 
  60.     close all open applications.
  61.  
  62. 3.  Insert the Wacom tablet CD into your computer.
  63.  
  64. 4.  Double-click on the Install icon and follow the prompts.
  65.  
  66. Once the software has been installed you should be able to 
  67. use your pen on the tablet to move the screen cursor.
  68.  
  69. For additional information on installation and 
  70. troubleshooting, refer to the electronic User’s Manual.  
  71. If you have completed the software installation, the User’s 
  72. Manual can be accessed by double-clicking on the User’s 
  73. Manual icon located in the Wacom Tablet folder.  When the 
  74. Wacom control panel is open, you can access the User's 
  75. Manual from the control panel Help menu.

  77.  * iMAC REQUIREMENTS *
  78.    For the iMac, USB tablets require Mac OS 8.5 or greater 
  79.    and Mac OS ROM 1.2.1 or greater.  Click the Apple icon and 
  80.    select About This Computer… to verify your operating 
  81.    system and OS ROM versions.  If the Mac OS ROM version 
  82.    does not display, or an older Mac OS ROM version is 
  83.    displayed, you must install the firmware and OS ROM  
  84.    update.  If necessary, install Mac OS 8.5 and run the iMac 
  85.    Firmware Update located on the Wacom tablet CD in the 
  86.    Apple iMac Updates folder.  Next, run iMac Update 1.1.  
  87.    Then install the tablet driver software.

  90. UNINSTALL

  92. To remove the tablet and software from your system:
  93.  
  94. 1.  Insert the Wacom tablet CD into your computer and 
  95.     double-click on the Install icon.
  96.  
  97. 2.  Select the Remove button.
  98.  
  99. 3.  Shut down your computer and disconnect your tablet.

  102. KNOWN ISSUES AND WORKAROUNDS
  103.  
  104.  * GENERAL NOTES *
  105.  
  106.    ADB TABLETS - ADVANCED MAPPING
  107.    With Mac OS 7.5, a system crash will occur when 
  108.    modifying Advanced Mapping settings for an ADB tablet as 
  109.    follows: If the Tablet Area is set to a portion of the tablet 
  110.    and the Aspect is set to Mouse Mode, a system crash will 
  111.    occur and the tablet will no longer be seen.  Restarting the 
  112.    computer will not solve this problem.  If this happens, zap 
  113.    the P-RAM to reset the ADB bus.  To zap the P-RAM, hold 
  114.    down the Command, Option, P, and R keys while the system 
  115.    boots until you hear the Startup Tone three times.  The 
  116.    tablet will be found and function normally.  To avoid this 
  117.    problem, download and install the free system upgrade to 
  118.    OS 7.5.5 from www.apple.com.

  125.    COPYING SETTINGS
  126.    The Copy Settings To dialog box does not fully function as 
  127.    described in the User’s Manual and online Help.  In the 
  128.    “Copy To” portion of the dialog box, you can only copy to 
  129.    one tool for one application on one tablet.
